How to get ready for a new school year?

START A PERFECT NEW ACADEMIC YEAR

September is almost here. As a teacher, you know  what it means perfectly well: A new school year is about to begin. Lessons, planning, meetings, forms and papers, new students, new colleagues, old ones….

While you are enjoying the last days of your summer holidays, there are many things you can do in order to get ready and willing.

Here are some useful ideas

  • Clean you USB or pen drive

Or organize your heaps of photocopies and books if you don’t use a USB. Select the files you may use and delete the rest. Tag the files you’re keeping and so you will find them quickly.

  • Shine up:

Go to the hairdresser and have a beautiful haircut again. Summer means relaxing, and our hair can show this lack of activity…Also, you can take advantage of the sales season and find items of clothing for the new year. It’s terrific to start a new school year with the great feeling of wearing a brand new pullover, T shirt, coat, shoes…

  •  Gather all the ideas that come up to your mind:

You have more free time during your holidays .On a piece of paper or with an app, write down all the ideas you may have and take a look at them when you are back at school.

  • Buy attractive materials and stationery:

Boring materials make bored teachers , and bored teachers make extremely bored students. Add beauty to your every day materials and you’ll feel more optimistic and active.

  • Prepare possible activities for the first sessions:

Whether you use them or not, you will be ready when the moment comes. Psychologically, you won't feel not stressed because you have something to work your students on that first day.

  • Look for materials from previous years:

Choose only the most inspiring ones.Forget about the "Just in case"materials, these are only good to keep your desk and bookshelves messy an untidy.

  • Get ready to wake up early:

Holidays mean staying in bed till late. In a few days, you’ll be up much earlier ,feeling sleepy. Gradually, set you alarm clock a bit early, so your body will get used to the new timetable.

Hope you find these suggestions useful and interesting!

Welcome back!!
